The COVID-19 pandemic has fundamentally altered many aspects of work and nonwork life, with both short-term and likely long-term effects. There are many potential ways that the science of applied psychology can contribute to the public good and enhance our understanding of how COVID-19 has affected employees, leaders, teams, families, organizations as well as the communities in which these groups reside in. The faster that we can bring our scientific evidence to others, the more we can help.

The Journal of Applied Psychology (http://www.apa.org/pubs/journals/apl/) invites quantitative and qualitative papers directly related to the pandemic. To be clear, the goal of this Call for Papers is to understand work- and employment-related phenomena associated with the COVID- 19 pandemic. Therefore, although data collected prior to COVID-19 could be used for comparison or linkage purposes, we are interested in research that directly informs our scientific understanding of the COVID-19 experience. To ensure relevance beyond COVID-19, we expect all submissions to discuss the implications of their findings beyond the current crisis in some manner.

A major imperative of DIOP is to strengthen its research capacity in investigating I/O related topics with community-wide impact. In doing so, we are excited to launch a research survey to better understand the wellbeing of the general public in 2020. 

​The Center for Leadership at Florida International University, in partnership with AOM's Network of Leadership Scholars, is again hosting and sponsoring the 9th edition of the Alvah H. Chapman Outstanding Leadership Dissertation award.

In these uncertain times of Covid-19, many of us are doing things a little differently and some of us have additional responsibilities. For these reasons, the submission deadline for the 2020 Southern Management Conference is extended to May 11^th (southernmanagement.site-ym.com/page/Meetings).

At this time, we still plan to hold the SMA 2020 Conference on October 20^th – 24^th in St. Pete Beach, FL. If social distancing requirements prevent a face-to-face conference, we will have a virtual conference. Regardless of the format (face-to-face, virtual or hybrid), the SMA Conference will feature all of our usual components, including doctoral and faculty consortiums, paper presentations, symposiums, panel discussions, methodological talks, and social events.
