SIOP recognizes that broadening the talent pool to include students who are often underrepresented in funded I-O psychology doctoral programs is valuable. DIP helps undergraduates gain the experience and qualifications needed to be more competitive when applying for funded doctoral programs.

Information For Prospective Scholars

The mission of the Diversifying I-O Psychology Program is to build a larger, more diverse talent pipeline within the field of I-O psychology and SIOP by broadening the profile of students applying to and entering funded I-O doctoral programs.

Program Objectives:

  1. Raise awareness of I-O psychology among undergraduate students.
  2. Introduce students to I-O graduate study pathways.
  3. Help students gain experience and qualifications to strengthen applications for I-O doctoral programs (e.g., research and scholarship skills).
  4. Guide students to explore specific research interests in I-O psychology.
  5. Foster a supportive and inclusive environment in I-O psychology.
  6. Expand and diversify SIOP membership.The program aims to recruit scholars and mentors annually, focusing on research experience through mentor-mentee relationships. Please see the phases below for additional information.
