In the Local I-O Groups Q4 Forum, neurodiversity was a topic many attendees were interested in. In this next community forum, we will learn and continue to build community by furthering our understanding of neurodivergence. Dr. Jill Janssen, founder of Jill’s Spectrum Coaching and a former school psychologist, will lead the presentation portion of this session, inviting participants to approach neurodiversity with curiosity and an open mind, moving beyond familiar narratives to examine how stigma continues to create barriers in employment, healthcare, education, and public services. Dr. Janssen focuses her work on nervous system regulation, executive functioning, and systems design for neurodivergent adults. She brings an evidence-informed perspective grounded in research, practice, and lived experience. Her presentation will be grounded in lived experience, empirical research, and coaching practice, reframing disability and neurodiversity not as deficits to be fixed, but as differences that require varying levels of support across the lifespan. This presentation will cover the diversity of the autism spectrum, challenge biologically reductive explanations that reinforce stigma, and reconsider common assumptions about performance and procrastination through the lens of self-regulation rather than motivation or ability. Drawing on Jill’s Spectrum Coaching findings, the presentation highlights a pivotal shift from pathology to understanding, from masking to regulation, and from survival to self-trust—emphasizing the creation of conditions where nervous systems, intelligence, and intuition can thrive. There will be opportunities for questions, networking and discussion following the Dr. Janssen’s presentation.
