The 2026 Early-Career Faculty Consortium will be held April 29 and is open to current and future junior faculty. Session content will address the unique challenges of entering academia, covering topics such as tenure expectations, marketability, teaching strategies, and balancing research and service.

Wednesday, April 29 (all times CT)

9 a.m. SIOP Consortium Plenary: Welcome session presented by SIOP Consortia organizers (All Consortia members).

9:30 a.m. – 10:45 a.m. Teaching Undergraduate and Graduate Courses:
Award-winning teachers and scholars will present advice for effectively managing teaching responsibilities while fostering an engaging classroom. Panelists include Courtney Keim (Bellarmine University), Gloria González-Morales (Claremont Graduate University), and José-María Peiró (University of Valencia).

11 a.m. – 12:15 p.m. Surviving and Thriving through the Promotion and Tenure Process and Managing Marketability:
Tenured faculty who have moved institutions at least once during their career will discuss how to build a strong dossier, navigate the tenure process, and stay competitive for other academic job opportunities. Panelists include Kimberly French (Colorado State University), Larry Martinez (University of Texas Arlington), Candice Thomas (Arizona State University), and Phil Thompson (Virginia Tech).

12:30 p.m. – 1:30 p.m. Break for Lunch: Lunch provided for consortia registrants.

1:30 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. Research and Pipeline Tips: An accomplished panel of scholars will provide tips and tricks for developing a research pipeline while balancing other responsibilities. Panelists include Mindy Bergman (Texas A&M University), Jose Cortina (Virginia Commonwealth University), John Mathieu (University of Connecticut), and Katina Sawyer (University of Arizona).

3 p.m. Refreshment Break: Light refreshments provided by SIOP.

3:30 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. Journal of Applied Psychology (JAP) Bootcamp:
The session will provide the opportunity to learn from the Journal of Applied Psychology’s editor-in-chief, Mo Wang, and esteemed members of the editorial board: Alicia Grandey, Kim French, Ivan Hernandez, Babatunde Ogunfowora, and Mindy Shoss. Additional details will be provided after registration.
