Join us for an engaging virtual session designed to empower I-O consultants, coaches, HR professionals, and organizational leaders with evidence-based tools to navigate today’s evolving coaching landscape. Combining presentation and fireside chat formats, this interactive experience will deliver research-informed insights to help you strategically integrate coaching interventions in the workplace. You’ll explore distinctions between coaching and related practices like mentoring and consulting and unpack various evidence-supported coaching formats such as 1:1 executive coaching, team coaching, and group coaching. Build foundational coaching skills—including active listening and open-ended questioning—and deepen your understanding of the goals and structure behind team coaching. You’ll also learn about coaching’s systemic impact and gain access to current research and resources to extend your development. Whether you’re looking to deepen your current coaching practice or introduce coaching into your organization, this session will leave you with the knowledge and strategies to lead with confidence and clarity.
- Be able to distinguish coaching from related interventions such as consulting, mentoring, and other communication or management practices, using an evidence-based lens.
- Understand the various research-supported coaching formats, including 1:1 executive coaching, team coaching, group coaching, and coaching as a skill set.

Presenters

Brodie Riordan, PhD, PCC Brodie is the principal at Ocular, a coaching and consulting practice that works with individual clients and organizations on their most challenging leadership, talent, and performance needs. Brodie is also an executive coach with BTS, a part-time professor at Georgetown University, and an advisor to several HR tech startups. Her career has included global leadership roles at McKinsey & Company, Procter & Gamble, and CEB/PDRI. Brodie has authored or co-authored two dozen journal articles and a few books, including Feedback Fundamentals and Evidence-Based Best Practices, Using Feedback in Organizational Consulting (with Paul Levy), The Coaching Shift (with Shonna Waters), and Industrial-Organizational Psychology: Understanding the Workplace (with Paul Levy & Alison O’Malley). She completed her MA/PhD in Industrial/Organizational Psychology at The University of Akron and a BA in psychology at Washington & Lee University. Brodie completed her coach training at Georgetown University and is an ICF-certified coach (PCC).

Gavan O’Shea, PhD, ACC Gavan is a manager and researcher at Human Resources Research Organization (HumRRO), and he has partnered with the International Coaching Federation (ICF) to conduct a global analysis of coaching practice and develop the new Credentialing Exam and team coaching certification. His areas of expertise include high-stakes assessment, leadership development, and coaching; along with ICF, his recent clients include FedEx and the U.S. Secret Service. For the Secret Service, he worked with a team of academics to create an agency-wide leadership development framework and helped develop several hiring and promotion assessments. Gavan completed his PhD in industrial-organizational psychology at Virginia Tech and his MS in general-experimental psychology at Villanova University. He is a Fellow of the American Psychological Association and the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology. He has shared his work through over 60 conference presentations, and his writing appears in the Oxford Handbook of Talent Management and The SAGE Encyclopedia of Leadership Studies. Gavan completed his coach training through the Co-Active Training Institute and is an ICF-certified coach.

Lucy Widdowson MSc MCC ACTC Lucy is an accredited executive and team coach, lead tutor on team coaching at Henley Business School and Director of Performance Edge, a leadership and coaching consultancy providing ICF accredited team coaching development. During her 30-year corporate career, she has worked as an HR Director and is a UK board member for team coaching for the ICF. Lucy was one of the global subject matter experts involved in the development of the ICF team coaching competencies and ACTC speciality designation.

Robert Garcia, MBA, ACC Robert is Vice President & Chief Staff Officer of ICF Coaching in Organizations is responsible for leading the operations that enable global organizations to build coaching capabilities and develop a strong coaching culture. A pivotal leader in coaching culture development, Robert is renowned for his strategic approach to expanding organizational coaching capabilities. His global expertise is reflected in strong partnerships across 50+ countries. An executive coach, a seasoned professor, and an eloquent keynote speaker, Robert’s sessions are a confluence of insight and inspiration. He has held senior level positions at Randstad, Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), Baptist Health, Florida International University (FIU), LHH, ADP, and United Healthcare. Robert has an MBA from FIU and a Bachelor of Science in Management from NSU. He has 5 HR Certifications including the Senior and Global HR Professional. He has the Associate Certified Coach (ACC) from ICF and is a Certified Association Executive. He is fluent in English and Spanish is a has presented in 6 continents.
