Strategic Events
SIOP offers members numerous opportunities to participate in structured experiences outside the Annual Conference, and the Strategic Events Committee oversees the coordination of these targeted (“strategic”) SIOP-related events. These events include, for example, SIOP sessions at the APA and APS conferences, SIOP’s participation in the Global Work and Organizational Psychology Conference, SIOP’s Virtual Program for Greater China, and the Leading Edge Consortium. The primary goal of this committee is to ensure that all such events remain aligned with the strategic goals of SIOP. To do so, this committee identifies and invites subcommittee leads (and leads-in-training as relevant) to organize each event with staff input, receives budget requests and periodic updates from each of the Strategic Event’s subcommittees, and provides integrated updates to (and works closely with) their staff liaison. They monitor attendance, engagement, and budget trends for each event over time to provide a future-focused perspective and use this information to advise the Executive Board on potential changes (enhancements, expansions, retrenchment) to SIOP’s portfolio of strategic events beyond the Annual Conference. Volunteers for this committee have roles within one of the specific program subcommittees.

The Workshops and Learning Programs Committee prepares and conducts workshops and learning programs relevant to I-O psychology and SIOP members at all career stages. They work closely with staff to identify and prioritize needs and implement fruitful ideas for this community. Their primary focus is on education (e.g., programs, webinars, other offerings). Their core programs include pre-conference workshops and Friday seminars for the SIOP Annual Conference, as well as Work Smart Series. Volunteer roles involve brainstorming, proposal submissions, and identifying facilitators. SIOP members with an interest in informing the program content will enjoy their role within this committee.
