Awards Committee

The Awards Committee is responsible for administering SIOP’s awards and the awards, scholarships, and grants for the SIOP Foundation. This committee also provides input to the SIOP Foundation when new awards are proposed. Awards Committee volunteers may also serve on 1 standing committee in addition to their Awards service.

Career Services Committee

The Career Services Committee provides efficient and effective means to connect job seekers with employers looking to hire I-O professionals. The committee oversees several career support offerings including the Conference Career Center (CCC), Mock Interview Program, and SIOP’s Career Center guidance. Members with experiences or interest in hiring, talent management, and related areas may find the work of this committee appealing.

Committee for Ethnic and Minority Affairs (CEMA)

The Committee on Ethnic and Minority Affairs (CEMA) is responsible for promoting the interest and inclusion of racial and ethnic minorities within SIOP as well as the field of I-O psychology. CEMA’s core work includes encouraging new research to examine issues directly concerning racial and ethnic minorities, which most often yields programming for the SIOP Annual Conference. Members who are interested in identifying or researching these kinds of issues will be engaged in the committee’s work.

Disability, Inclusion, and Accessibility Committee (DIAC)

SIOP’s DIAC seeks to raise awareness of issues of disability and disability identity in the workforce as well as within membership. This committee’s work includes providing support to the needs of members while also providing guidance to other committees and membership as to how to best support those with a lived experience of a disability. DIAC volunteers with an interest or experience in identifying, establishing, and sharing best practices across the I-O community will appreciate the work of this committee.

Fellowship Committee

The Fellowship Committee manages the review of nominations of Members for SIOP Fellow status. The core work of the occurs during the second half of the calendar year and results in a slate of recommended Fellow candidates which is shared with the Executive Board for approval. Only current SIOP Fellows may serve on this committee.

International Affairs Committee (IAC)

The International Affairs Committee is responsible for increasing awareness, fostering collaborations, and sharing knowledge relevant to I-O psychology in an international or multi-cultural environment. Their core work includes curating programming during the SIOP Annual Conference, connecting SIOP members to other worldwide organizations with similar purposes, and sharing relevant research to further workplace science in a variety of cultures. Members who have an interest in driving global actions as they relate to the workplace will find this work satisfying.

LGBTQIA+ Committee

SIOP’s LGBTQIA+ Committee is responsible for encouraging research on issues and promoting the LGBTQIA+ voice within the Society. The core work of the committee includes supporting a mentorship program, driving education and research of issues, informing best support practices to the workforce, and reviewing for related awards. Volunteers with an interest in supporting the work from their student, faculty, or practitioner perspectives will be able to do so across a variety of subcommittees.

Licensing, Certification & Credentialing Committee

SIOP’s Licensing, Certification, and Credentialing Committee focuses on monitoring and influencing developments, some of which result in changing state licensing laws. The core work of the committee includes updating SIOP leadership on relevant issues that may impact SIOP membership. Volunteers who are willing to make provincial psychological association contacts beyond SIOP membership will be best fit to serve on this committee.

Membership Committee

SIOP’s Membership Committee drives functions related to the selection and retention of membership. The core work of the committee includes application review, annual survey administrations, and analytics of membership data to provide insights to leadership. All volunteers with survey or analytical backgrounds will be best suited for this work, while Associates, Members, or Fellows will be able to review applications for membership.

Military and Veterans Inclusion Committee (MVI)

The Military and Veterans Inclusion Committee builds collaborations, creates a community for SIOP members working on military and veteran topics, and supports efforts to increase offerings to those in service and while employed in civilian settings.  

The work of the committee includes understanding the veteran support required within SIOP membership and ensuring other committee’s awareness of efforts related to military and veteran members. Volunteers with an interest in supporting or are themselves associated with military roles will have a quality experience on this committee.

Women’s Inclusion Network Committee (WIN)

The Women’s Inclusion Network aims to raise awareness of gender-related workplace issues, promote women’s participation in SIOP, encourage innovative research, enhance women’s experiences, and foster gender equality through best practices. This committee’s work includes supporting a mentoring program and informing membership policies to ensure experiences are inclusive. Members who have background or interest in supporting women in the workplace will find this committee’s work enjoyable.
