Mirian Graddick-Weir is a trailblazing leader in human resources and industrial-organizational (I-O) psychology, with a career spanning more than three decades. From 2006 – 2019 she served as the executive vice president, Human Resources at Merck, where she had responsibility for all aspects of human resources for 68,000 colleagues located in over 90 countries. She played a pivotal role working with the Board, including supporting Ken Frazier’s transition from General Counsel to CEO and she fostered a culture focused on talent and organizational growth. Prior to joining Merck, Dr. Graddick-Weir spent 25 years at AT&T, ultimately serving as Executive Vice of Human Resources and Employee Communication.
Widely recognized for her strategic insight and inclusive leadership, in 2001 she was elected as National Academy of Human Resources (NAHR) Fellow and in 2016 was elected as a Distinguished Fellow of the Academy, the highest honor in the HR profession. She was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award by the University of Michigan and received Academy of Management’s Distinguished HR Executive Award. In 2024 she became a Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology (SIOP) Fellow.
Today, Dr. Graddick-Weir is Principle of the Graddick Weir Group LLC and continues to shape the field through board service and advisory roles. She serves on the Board of Directors of Yum! Brands, Inc., where she chairs the Nominating and Governance Committee and Booking Holdings, Inc., where she chairs the Talent and Compensation Committee. She also serves on the Foundation Board of SIOP. Dr. Graddick-Weir lends her expertise as a senior advisor to Jersey Battered Women’s Services and she is the CEO of The Samuel E. Massenberg Foundation which is designed to increase the number of students from underserved communities earning STEM degrees.
Dr. Graddick-Weir earned a master’s degree and a Ph.D. in industrial/organizational psychology from Pennsylvania State University.
