Dr. Steven G. Rogelberg is Chancellor’s Professor at UNC Charlotte for exceptional interdisciplinary, national, and international contributions. He is a Professor of Organizational Science, Management, and Psychology and has over 200 publications—cited nearly 14,000 times—on topics such as team effectiveness, leadership, workplace well-being, and the science of meetings. He serves as Editor of the Journal of Business and Psychology and has received more than $2.5 million in external funding, including from the National Science Foundation.

His accolades include the 2017 Humboldt Research Award, SIOP’s inaugural Humanitarian Award, the 2022 Katzell Award for societal impact, and the 2019 First Citizens Bank Scholar Award. He is a Fellow of SIOP and the Association for Psychological Science and has been consistently ranked among the “World’s Top 2%” scientists by Stanford University/Elsevier.

Dr. Rogelberg is a Past President of the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology (SIOP) and former Secretary General of the Alliance for Organizational Psychology. His leadership within SIOP includes roles as Executive Board Member, Program Chair, and Chair of Education and Training.

His book, The Surprising Science of Meetings (Oxford, 2019), has been on over 25 “best of” lists including being recognized as the #1 leadership book to watch for in 2019 by The Washington Post. His latest book, Glad We Met: The Art and Science of 1:1 Meetings (2024), was selected as a top 12 workplace book by SHRM and a top 5 “must read” by Forbes.

Featured in a wide array of media outlets including The Wall Street Journal, National Geographic, Scientific American Mind, NPR, and Freakonomics, he testified before the U.S. Congress in 2022 on being successful and engaging others in difficult working environments, using organizational psychology to elevate members of congress, their staffs, and the institution. A member of the elite Marshall Goldsmith 100 Coaches Group, he also founded and currently directs three nonprofit outreach initiatives that have served over 5,000 organizations worldwide.

Before completing his Ph.D. in Industrial/Organizational Psychology at the University of Connecticut in 1994, Dr. Rogelberg received his undergraduate B.Sc. degree from Tufts University in 1989.
