Submitted by the SIOP Education & Training Committee
Since 1985, The SIOP Guidelines for Education & Training in Industrial-Organizational Psychology have provided a comprehensive, updated framework to guide the preparation of graduate-level students in the field of I-O psychology. These guidelines are reviewed and updated every 10 years, at which time they are submitted to APA for approval and posting. This revision of the guidelines may be the most important in the document’s history, considering the events and changes that have occurred over the last decade.
The SIOP Education & Training Committee is asking for help from members to make this latest iteration of the guidelines as comprehensive and accurate as it can be. For the next 30 days, the draft version will be available for review by SIOP professional members. All members are invited to review either the entire document or just the sections of interest to them and complete the online form. All information will be kept confidential and used only to improve the document.
“The Education and Training Guidelines shape how our field prepares the next generation of scientists and practitioners,” said E&T Committee Chair Christopher Wiese, who has been guiding these efforts. “Your insights and perspectives ensure these standards reflect the breadth of our profession and remain relevant in a rapidly changing world of work. Reviewing and commenting on the guidelines is one of the most important ways you can contribute to the future of I-O psychology.”
