The latest book from the SIOP Professional Practice Book Series explores the evolving landscape of employee experience and leadership in the face of unprecedented global disruption.
Evolving the Employee Experience, which was edited by SIOP Fellows Rose Mueller-Hanson, Evan F. Sinar, and Elaine D. Pulakos, examines how organizations are adapting to meet changing employee needs and expectations in the new world of work by drawing on first-hand research and case studies.
“Employee experience isn’t a buzzword anymore—it’s central to how organizations attract, retain, and grow people,” the editors said. “This book highlights practical ways I-O psychologists and leaders can make that happen.”
The volume is structured around three interconnected themes:
- expanding the employee experience
- inclusive talent practices
- developing leaders for the future
Each section offers insights into critical areas such as human connection, remote work, organizational agility, diversity and inclusion, data-driven decision making, and technology-enabled development, and includes contributions from many SIOP members.
“We are thrilled with the range of voices in this volume,” the editors said. “Scientists and practitioners came together to share what’s working, what’s not, and how we can keep reimagining and elevating the way we engage people at work.”
Throughout, Evolving the Employee Experience emphasizes the importance of aligning talent practices with strategic priorities, leveraging technology effectively, and embracing a holistic approach to employee experience. It provides practical guidance for HR professionals and leaders on implementing and scaling these approaches while addressing ethical considerations and diverse workforce needs. By integrating cutting-edge research with actionable strategies, this volume offers a comprehensive roadmap for organizations seeking to thrive in an era of continuous disruption and transformation.
Evolving the Employee Experience was published in August and is available for purchase in print and as an E-book.
