In December, the SIOP Guidelines for Education & Training in Industrial-Organizational Psychology were approved by the SIOP Executive Board for submission to the APA.
These guidelines provide a comprehensive, updated framework designed to guide the preparation of graduate-level students in the field of I-O psychology. They aim to shape high-quality educational experiences without imposing rigid curriculum requirements or certification standards.
Thank you to all members who provided input on the document. Once the APA approves the guidelines, they will be shared on the SIOP website.
The SIOP Guidelines for Education & Training in Industrial-Organizational Psychology are updated every 10 years, and the Education and Training Committee aimed to identify both established competencies that remain foundational and emerging areas that warranted inclusion, such as artificial intelligence, in this revision. With your help, these guidelines promote a well-rounded, flexible, and future-ready approach to graduate education in I-O psychology, ensuring that students gain the competencies needed to thrive in diverse and evolving workplace environments.
