SIOP is pleased to announce that Talent Metrics has been chosen to serve as the Society’s survey provider for another 3-year term. SIOP posted a request for proposals in April and after review, the Talent Metrics proposal was deemed the best fit.
The SIOP survey provider is tasked with administering surveys electronically, capturing data from survey respondents, analyzing data, generating reports from the survey responses for SIOP, and preparing data for archiving. Surveys are conducted to gauge reactions to the SIOP Annual Conference, the SIOP Leading Edge Consortium, and SIOP in general. There are annual surveys as well as ones held on regular schedules. The results of these are used for many purposes, including program planning, evaluating member engagement and satisfaction, and providing reports for various committees and the membership in general.
“I have been a member of SIOP since 2007 and in almost 20 years of membership, this project has been the most impactful work I’ve done with SIOP,” said Talent Metrics Principal Consultant Sayeed Islam. “Working on the annual survey contract has given our team at Talent Metrics a deeper understanding of SIOP and the challenges faced by the field of I-O. It’s been great working with the volunteer committees and deepening our relationships with members and the administrative office. There’s no shortage of dedication at SIOP!”
When asked why Talent Metrics got involved and what they get out of this partnership, Islam added, “The reason we do it is impact. We know that the data we’re collecting and the support we provide is helping SIOP and the field of I-O psychology. Mike [Chetta] and I are passionate advocates for the field of I-O and evidence-based practice in HR. Our professional organization also needs strong evidence-based practice to improve and thrive as an organization.
“As a boutique consulting firm, we work closely with our interns and associate consultants. This provides them with great experience on managing a survey project. We are happy to provide insights that guide decision making in an organization we are proud members of. It’s personally satisfying in many ways.”
Islam encourages member participation in these surveys, in SIOP, and in the I-O psychology field in general.
“What SIOP members and I-Os in general should know is that there’s a lot of dedicated people within the organization trying their best to make things better,” he said. “We hope that members can contribute whether it’s through survey feedback, volunteering, or being conscientious members and advocates for science. If we want SIOP to thrive then we need the efforts of all SIOP members.”
