As a member of SIOP, you are part of a vibrant professional network that extends far beyond North America. You are also connected to a broader global I-O community through the Alliance for Organizational Psychology (AOP), a federation of Industrial, Work, and Organizational Psychology (IWOP) societies committed to elevating the global visibility, influence, and impact of our science and practice.
A key component of our global reach is our role as a founding member of the Alliance for Organizational Psychology. Founded jointly by SIOP, the Organizational Psychology Division of the International Association for Applied Psychology (IAAP Division 1), and the European Association of Work and Organizational Psychology (EAWOP), the AOP was created to unite leading IWOP societies and amplify our collective voice on a global stage. In the years that followed, additional societies joined the AOP, including the Canadian Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology (CSIOP), and, most recently, the Brazilian Society for Organizational and Work Psychology (SBPOT), and the Australian Psychological Society’s College of Organisational Psychologists (APS COP). Together, these organizations collaborate to advance evidence-based policies, strengthen global advocacy for decent and meaningful work, and promote international collaboration in research and applied practice.
SIOP plays a vital role within the AOP, ensuring that the perspectives and expertise of SIOP members are represented on the world stage. By uniting with peer IWOP organizations, the AOP provides a strong, unified voice to influence global policy makers, such as the United Nations, and to promote international collaboration in research and practice. Through these partnerships, the AOP advances shared priorities such as promoting decent work, shaping evidence-based global policy, and supporting applied research that improves working lives across cultures. These collaborations are instrumental in advancing our shared mission to enhance human well-being and performance in work settings everywhere.
Watch the SIOP Source for more information in the coming months on what AOP has to offer SIOP members.
