The SIOP Foundation is pleased to announce the election of two esteemed individuals to its Board of Trustees: SIOP Fellows Fred Oswald, PhD, and Steven Rogelberg, PhD.

photo of Fred Oswald in blue suitOswald is a professor of I-O psychology at Rice University, having obtained his PhD in industrial-organizational psychology from the University of Minnesota.

His current research investigates the nature and use of artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning within employment testing and talent management settings.

He is the incoming editor of Psychological Methods and is outgoing associate editor at the Journal of Applied Psychology.

He also currently serves as chair of the National Academies Board on Human-Systems Integration (BOHSI) and as member of the National Artificial Intelligence Advisory Committee (NAIAC, 2022), which advises the president and secretary of Commerce.

Oswald served as the 2017-18 SIOP president and is a Fellow of the APA and APS in addition to SIOP.

photo of Steve Rogelberg in blue shirtRogelberg is the Chancellor’s Professor at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. With over 200 publications, his research focuses on team effectiveness, leadership, employee well-being, and workplace meetings. He also serves as editor of the Journal of Business and Psychology and has secured over $2.5 million in external funding, including grants from the National Science Foundation.

His accolades include the 2017 Humboldt Award, the 2019 First Citizens Bank Scholar Award, the SIOP Humanitarian Award, and the 2022 Raymond A. Katzell Award. He has been named among Stanford University/Elsevier’s “World’s Top 2%” scientists multiple times. Rogelberg has held leadership roles in SIOP and the Alliance for Organizational Psychology, contributing significantly to the field. He served as the 2021-22 SIOP president.

His books, The Surprising Science of Meetings (2019) and Glad We Met (2024), have received widespread acclaim, earning recognition from The Washington Post, Forbes, and SHRM. His work has been featured on major media platforms including CBS, BBC, NPR, The Wall Street Journal, and Forbes. In 2022, he testified before the U.S. Congress on improving workplace engagement in challenging environments.

Rogelberg earned his PhD in industrial-organizational psychology from the University of Connecticut and a BSc from Tufts University.
