In celebration of an extraordinary leader who has made a groundbreaking impact on research or practice related to LGBTQIA+ issues in Industrial-Organizational Psychology.

This annual award is given by the SIOP Foundation to recognize a visionary whose unwavering dedication has transformed workplace experiences, championed inclusivity, and driven meaningful advocacy for LGBTQIA+ individuals within organizational settings.

The recipient of the award receives a plaque and a $1,000 cash prize.

 

Administrative Procedures

A subcommittee curated by the chair of the SIOP LGBTQIA+ Committee will examine all applications based on the eligibility criteria described above. Please review the below materials necessary for nominations.

  1. A nomination letter by a SIOP member is required. Nomination letters should be no more than 2 single spaced pages. Self-nominations are welcome.
  2. All nominees must be SIOP members (Affiliate and Student members are ineligible for this award)
  3. The nomination letters should include:
  • A discussion of the relationship between the nominee and nominator
  • A description of the describe the nominee’s contributions to LGBTQIA+ issues within Industrial Organizational Psychology
  • Information about the following relevant articles
  • Relevant awards
  • LGBTQIA+ publications and research
  • Impact on driving LGBTQIA+ policies or practices
  1. A copy of the nominees CV (limited to 5 pages) will be requested as part of the nomination process.

Criteria for Eligibility

Nominees will be evaluated on the following criteria:

  • Be a paid/active SIOP member.
  • Breadth and depth of innovative research or initiatives focused on LGBTQIA+ issues.
  • Contributions to policy or practice that enhance inclusivity or success for LGBTQIA+ individuals in organizational settings.
  • Demonstrate leadership in driving the field of industrial organizational psychology forward specifically in the areas of LGBTQIA+ work and partnership.
  • Plan to attend to the SIOP Annual Conference.

 

Prioritization for Selection

Nominees will be evaluated on the following criteria:

  1. Breadth and depth of innovative research or initiatives focused on LGBTQIA+ issues.
  2. Contributions to policy or practice that enhance inclusivity or success for LGBTQIA+ individuals in organizational settings.
  3. Demonstrate leadership in driving the field of industrial organizational psychology forward specifically in the areas of LGBTQIA+ work and partnership.

Award winner(s) will be notified in February 2026.
