Volunteering on a SIOP committee adds a new layer of benefits to your SIOP membership that can’t be accessed anywhere else. Not only does volunteering on a committee come with a built-in network of thought leaders in the I-O psychology profession, but the work simultaneously enhances your knowledge of I-O psychology while also allowing you to gain new skills in a unique environment.

The deadline to sign up to volunteer on a SIOP committee through the SIOP Volunteer System (SVS) is July 30, 2025.

To volunteer for the first time OR if you are returning to serve on your committee from last year, you need to:

  • Renew your SIOP membership through June 2026, update your Personal Snapshot to make sure Committee Chairs receive the most current information about you when reviewing your Join Request, and read about the work committees are doing to decide where you’d like to serve.
  • Then, follow the instructions in this guide to put your name in the system for the Committee Chair to review. If you are returning to a committee, please continue to select that committee until you are accepted.
  • Wait to hear from the Committee Chairs. If you aren’t selected for a committee, please revisit the SVS to select another committee.

Some committees are seeking specific expertise and SIOP’s mission can be furthered if you are the right fit. The following committee is one example:

CEMA is looking for volunteers who are interested in and committed to advancing racial/ethnic equity in workplaces, the field of I-O psychology, and SIOP. They are looking for volunteers who can assist with their mentoring program, which matches doctoral students to professional mentors who can help them with career success and advancement, or to help plan other programming, such as webinars related to racial/ethnic equity at work.

To learn more about SIOP’s leadership opportunities, watch this video and then submit your interest information via the QR code at the end.
SIOP flourishes thanks to the dedication and hard work of its volunteers. Thank you for your consideration to volunteer!
