This ask-me-anything panel will center on the impact of the Dobbs decision on people in the workplace. It’s hosted by the Women’s Inclusion Network within SIOP and will focus on how the end of Roe will impact well-being and performance, as well as how we as I-O psychologists can help and where we should focus. All SIOP members are welcome to attend what we hope will be a productive discussion about what research suggests about this topic, as well as next steps.
- The impacts of the Roe v Wade decision on workplace well-being and performance
- How can I-O psychologists support teams and professionals
- Where would it be prudent to focus resources to support staff/teams in the aftermath of this decision
Nitya Chawla, Ph.D.
University of Minnesota
Nitya Chawla, Ph.D., is an Assistant Professor in the Work and Organizations Department at the Carlson School of Management, University of Minnesota. Broadly, Nitya's research explores how we can create positive and safe organizational workspaces that celebrate employees' work and non-work identities and experiences. In service of this goal, Nitya’s work explores issues tied to diversity and inclusion within organizations as well as the importance of employee well-being. Recognizing that employees’ abilities to thrive in their careers long-term is intricately tied to their early work experiences, Nitya's research also examines the factors that prompt successful job searches.
Nitya’s research has been published in the Journal of Applied Psychology, Organization Science, Personnel Psychology, Research in Personnel and Human Resource Management, and Industrial and Organizational Psychology: Perspectives in Science and Practice. She is an editorial review board member of the Journal of Applied Psychology, Organizational Behavior and Human Decision Processes, Personnel Psychology, and Human Resource Management. In addition, Nitya was recognized as a Poets & Quants Top 50 Undergraduate Business School Professors in 2022.
Stefanie Mockler, Ph.D.
President and Co-Founder

Stefanie is the President and Co-Founder of The Violet Group and The Violet Collective. An IO psychologist by training, with a passion for building inclusive cultures and leaders, she helps talented professionals accelerate their leadership capabilities and realize their full potential.
Acknowledging that boundaries between personal and professional life blur and intersect, Stefanie takes a holistic approach to leadership consulting to enrich her clients' performance across life domains.
In her career thus far, Stefanie has coached new and seasoned leaders going through critical role transitions, onboarding into bigger positions, navigating high potential development programs, and evolving their approach to meet the needs of a progressively ambiguous environment. She’s built deep expertise working within finance, service, manufacturing, and restaurant industries – and is adept at helping high performers with deep expertise become strong people leaders. She is also a TEDx and SXSW-invited speaker, frequent panelist, and facilitator.
Stefanie received her M.A. and Ph.D. in IO Psychology from DePaul University. Her research focused on better understanding how to create family-friendly workplace cultures, leveling the playing field for underrepresented groups, and mitigating the penalties that primary caregivers receive in corporate contexts.
Bre Timko, Ph.D., J.D.
Bre Timko is an Industrial and Organizational (I/O) Psychologist, non-practicing lawyer, and Senior Consultant at DCI Consulting. As part of the Employment and Litigation Services division, Bre provides consultation and support for a variety of selection, assessment, and litigation projects. Bre’s primary areas of expertise include job analysis, selection, assessment development, and validation and adverse impact analyses.
Prior to joining DCI, Bre led the Reporting and Analytics team at DDI. In this role, she managed a variety of internal and external survey, data, and reporting projects, including DDI’s internal engagement survey, DDI’s transition from on-premises data storage to cloud data lake storage, and the creation of standard and custom leadership assessment reports for clients. Bre also led the development and management of the surveys and reports that evaluated the effectiveness of DDI’s leadership development programs. Prior to DDI, Bre worked in IBM’s Smarter Workforce division, where she supported client employee engagement survey and validation projects.
Bre earned her M.A. and Ph.D. in Industrial and Organizational Psychology from the University of Missouri-St. Louis and her J.D. with a concentration in Labor and Employment Law from Saint Louis University School of Law.
