Dear SIOP Supporter:

SIOP’s 2007 conference in New York City was outstanding…and we are busily working on what we’re sure will be a spectacular SIOP in San Francisco!  I hope you plan to attend the conference, April 10–12, 2008, and that you will be a Sponsor of the conference this year. Your sponsorship enables us to offer a very affordable conference fee, resulting in attendance by a large percentage of our membership.  This coming together once a year has a phenomenal effect on the Society and on the field of I-O psychology.  Please consider being a Sponsor of SIOP 2008.

The San Francisco Hilton, our headquarters hotel, is located just off Union Square and the Cable Cars in the heart of the city’s restaurant, theater, and shopping districts.  You can enjoy the world-famous sites of Union Square, Golden Gate Park, and Chinatown.

Our new 3-day conference format allows for more sessions and new theme tracks, almost a conference within a conference.  Our Thursday theme will be titled The Link between Individual and Organizational Health.  Our Saturday theme will be titled The State of I-O Education: A Candid Look in the Mirror. These themes will represent one vertical track presented with 18 other concurrent sessions. SIOP’s tradition of outstanding topic diversity will, of course, continue.

New Exhibit Hall hours mean better exposure for you.  The Hall will open at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday and 8:30 a.m. on Friday and Saturday.  The booth layout has been designed for maximum exposure and flow.  Poster sessions, food and beverage, and the Cyber Café will once again be located in the hall.

Workshops will be held on April 9.  The conference begins on Thursday, April 10 and ends at 6 p.m. on Saturday, April 12, 2008.   There were 4,509 people at the last conference and we expect the good numbers to continue.

Sponsors will each have a booth and will be listed in the Conference Program, on the SIOP Web site, and in the Awards brochure.  You can enhance your visibility by placing an ad in the Conference Program, doing a mailing to conference attendees, or by placing an insert into the conference bag.

Doug Pugh is chair of the conference and Julie Olson-Buchanan is the chair-in-training this year.  As usual, you can call me, or any of the staff at the Administrative Office, with any questions or concerns.

Please become a SIOP Sponsor.  You will certainly help SIOP, and you will enhance your company’s visibility.  We appreciate your support, and we will do all we can to make it a great experience for you and your company!
