Conference Program Advertising

The Conference Program is mailed to all conference registrants who sign up before the early registration deadline (February 29) and will be available at the conference registration desk.  It is the most important publication at the SIOP conference.  Your ad will be seen over and over again as people hunt for the next session to attend, and attendees tend to save their programs and use them throughout the year to follow up on research presented.  So, although the conference ends on April 12, your ad will continue to be seen for a long time.  Advertising in the program is open to sponsors and nonsponsors alike, so you may want to mention in your ad that you are a sponsor.  Or, if you elect not to be a sponsor of this year’s conference, advertising in the program is a good alternative.

The deadline for display ads is January 16, 2008.  Please complete the sponsor form and the insertion order.

This is a great opportunity to get extended visibility for your business.

Advertisement Submission Format

All ads are black and white, except for the back cover (call for availability).  A hard copy of each ad must be submitted to the Administrative Office (520 Ordway Avenue, Bowling Green, OH  43402: fax: 419-352-2645).  Send files to graphics@siop.org.

Digital File Specifications:  Platform: Windows IBM (or compatible).  Contact us if you need other options.  Preferred formats are .eps, .tif,  or .pdf. Be sure to either convert or embed the fonts.  Media accepted: 3.5 inch floppy, Zip, CD-ROMs, or by e-mail.

File Information:  Please include the following information about your file: program(s) used, graphics file names, and fonts used.

Name Your Files: [yourcompany]_prog.[file extender]  For example, an Illustrator ad from the company Tests-R-Us would be “testsrus_prog.eps.”

Supported Applications: Illustrator, Photoshop, Acrobat, or QuarkXpress.  A laser proof must accompany your file.

E-mailing files: Files transmit better electronically if they are compressed.  Use WinZip to compress ad files prior to e-mailing.

Resolution for TIF or EPS files: 300 DPI saved in TIF or EPS format. Do not use any compression scheme on your graphics (JPEG, LZW).   Files created in Illustrator or similar applications should have all fonts converted to outlines (curves).  All graphics should be included in the file.

Graphics: Include all associated graphics on the disk.

Fonts: All fonts must be included on the disk (printer and screen fonts). Use Adobe Type 1 fonts only. Adobe Type 1 fonts will be substituted for missing, non-Adobe, or True Type fonts if necessary.

PDF files:  PDF can convert complex images, and the resulting files are compact and easy to transmit electronically. When creating a PDF file, be sure to embed ALL the fonts; this option is not the default and must be specified.  Be sure also to set the correct resolution for any bitmapped images. Output resolution should be 100 to 133 lpi.  Font problems can occur with PDF files, so we may contact you to resubmit the file in another format if we encounter any problems.

Contact information: Please include the name, phone number, and address of the creator of the ad in case we need to contact them about the ad or to return a disk.

Production charges: Extra mechanical work (on film, electronic files, or original artwork) such as enlargements, reductions, major copy and/or illustration changes, halftones, screens, handwork, and so forth will incur additional charges.  Artwork and/or ad files that do not meet the production mechanical requirements of the Conference Program may be revised as needed.  Additional charges may apply for changes made to your files due to errors in ad size, type, graphics, or file format. Charges will be billed at $35 per hour.
