The SIOP Visibility Committee, led by Chair Nikki Blacksmith continues to provide SIOP members and others interested in I-O topics with up-to-date research and features.

The Committee has released new white papers on diversity and the gig economy, along with an engaging new video on the 2019 Top 10 Workplace Trends.

Benefits of Socioeconomic Diversity to Organizations: How Organizations Can Promote and Benefit From Socioeconomic Diversity by McKenzie Preston and Sumona De Graaf shows that socioeconomic diversity can lead to positive business and people-related benefits for organizations. Drawing on research from various fields including management, psychology, and sociology research, the authors hope to provide organizations with a deeper understanding of how to enact, promote, and benefit from practices that promote socioeconomic diversity in their employee populations.

Registration is now open for the 2019 SIOP Leading Edge Consortium (LEC) taking place on October 25-26 at Loews Hotel in Atlanta, Georgia, with workshops taking place on the 24^th.

The 15^th Annual LEC, “Advancing the Edge: Assessment for the 2020s,” will concentrate on preparing assessment practitioners to manage trends with appropriate professional and scientific rigor.

Co-chaired by John Scott, APTMetrics, Inc, and Doug Reynolds, Development Dimensions International (DDI), the 2019 LEC is focused on bringing together a diverse group of thought leaders who explore the evolving state of practice and related science. The goal is to frame out practical solutions for managing disruptions and incorporating new insights and technologies into organizational assessment programs.

Dr. Benjamin Schneider joined Margaret E. Brooks for the 2019 SIOP Living History Series at the annual conference. In this session, Schneider talked about his early jobs, his education, his SIOP presidency, and his family. Dr. Schneider’s talk is available to watch on the SIOP YouTube channel.

Beginning on June 20 (and through July 19), all SIOP Members and Fellows will have the opportunity to vote for two bylaws amendments relating to the Executive Board. In accordance with SIOP Bylaws Article IX (Amendments) Section 1, a notice of these proposed bylaw changes was emailed to the last known address of SIOP Members at least 30 days before the scheduled vote. 

The first proposed amendment is an important change to the SIOP bylaws that would create a new elected officer position. The second proposed bylaws amendment clarifies the eligibility of currently serving officers to stand for election.
